Mark Boombastik

markboombastikMark Boombastik is a human beatbox with advanced technics. Early in his career, he added guitar effects and bass synths to his live sets to push his vocal art to a new level. Mark Boombastik is mostly known for his astonishing crossover pop-song “Putzen” which was licensed for german TV shows among other crazy things. Through this novelty hit he caught the attention of the Berlin record label Shitkatapult for which he produced the long-player “Adios Berlin” together with Eduardo Delgado-Lopez. Lesser known but extremely sought after are his releases on Meeuw Muzak and Gagarin Records. With Gagarin Records chairman Felix Kubin he did countless live and studio collaborations.

Coco Bryce

CocoBryceIn 1995 Coco Bryce started DJing hardcore and breakbeat, gradually switching to d&b and tekno a few years later. Mainly operating under his “DJ-Y” moniker (as part of the notorious ZMK Soundsystem) he also took his first steps as a producer, which resulted in his debut vinyl release in 2000 on the Obnoxious label of friend and fellow DJ/producer OBX. By the late 00′s his focus had shifted more towards downtempo styles like hip hop and skweee, releasing a number of records and cassettes on such labels as Harmönia, Fremdtunes and his own Myor imprint.
The last couple of years have seen him go full circle, playing and producing mainly jungle and breakbeat hardcore, running two sublabels specialized in said styles (Myor Massiv and Diamond Life), collaborating with the likes of Dead Man’s Chest, Tim Reaper and fellow Dutch junglist FFF and dropping a slew of EP’s and 12”s on various UK based labels including 7th Storey Projects, Fresh 86, Western Lore and Hypercharger.

Upcoming: Prince Istari Meets Erik Satie

to be released 12th april 2024. Prince Istari Meets Erik Satie Inna Heavy Dub Encounter – miniLP.

The earliest musical memories of young Prince Istari are of his mother beautifying the home with her piano playing. She would repeatedly play the tranquil pieces of Erik Satie. Skipping school and sitting in the sun, young Prince would listen to these catchy, calm compositions. In the first week of 2024, the older Prince Istari rediscovered himself and found a box containing his mother’s old sheet music. He transferred them to his computer and began spinning dub versions from them. It became a tapestry. As his mother used to say: “To weave a net, one must first spin.” The form of the pieces dictated the direction each would take. The heavy dub transforms here into a light weightiness until it dissolves into a pure piano piece accompanied by a synthesizer. However, the last piece is much older, from the time when Prince was still known as Istari Lasterfahrer. The ending includes a distorted recording of Huberta, Prince’s mother, playing a Gnossienne by Satie. At the end, she turns the sheet music, and the record can be turned back to the beginning.

In the essence of its material, this record rejects the Loudness War. The originality of the compositions guided the dub within their tracks, thereby imparting to each a form descriptive of its essence.

record release of 200 copies, printed sleave, numbered.

The concept of Dance With Uncertainty is deeply rooted in philosophical, artistic, and cultural traditions. The notion of embracing uncertainty and change has been explored in various forms throughout history, often symbolizing the human experience and the impermanence of life. In the context of music and sound, Dance With Uncertainty could be seen as a reflection of the constant ebb and flow of life‘s uncertainties, captured and conveyed through sonic textures and evolving compositions.

Buchla Bongos emerge as a captivating sonic artifact within the realm of electro-acoustic compositions, modern classical arrangements, and disco anthems. These intricate electronic percussive circuit, using a lowpass gate, crafted by the visionary Don Buchla, lend a unique and experimental edge to diverse musical landscapes.

Transistor Mallets weave a aural mosaic that seamlessly spans future jazz, sequential music and disco euphoria. Generated by hitting resonanting filters with milliseconds of voltage snaps these electronically reverbing mallet instruments reimagine the boundaries of sound, allowing classical tones to coalesce with futuristic elements.

Interlocked Rhythm Sample & Hold Music This approach to sound creation weaves a mesmerizing tapestry of rhythm, texture, and sonic exploration, captivating listeners and defying traditional musical boundaries. At its core, Interlocked Rhythm Sample & Hold Music is a synthesis of technology, creativity, and a deep understanding of rhythmic intricacies. The foundation lies in the Sample & Hold circuit, a device that captures and freezes incoming voltages, creating distinct musical snapshots that evolve over time or an Linear Feedback Shift Register (eg. Rungler), a circuit used in electronic music synthesis and sound manipulation to create unique and evolving musical textures. The Rungler was created by Rob Hordijk. A more sofisticated useage of a 8 bit shift register and by combining this with a typical sequencer design is the Klee Seqeuncer developed by Scott Stites. A cheap version of this design is the Turing Machine. Another tool is the Analog Shift Register. In the context of creating arabesque melodies, an analog shift register (invended by Fukushi Kawakami and later adapted by Serge Tcherepnin) can be a fascinating tool to generate intricate and ornamented musical patterns. Yet, it‘s the interlocking of these snapshots that sets this genre apart, infusing the compositions with an intricate dance of patterns and pulses. A fourth device is a pendulum or random addressed sequencer, that in the first case moves in a drunken unpredictical maner. Each of these device for uncertainty becomes a rhythmic sculptor, freezing the dynamic interplay of melodies, beats, and textures. These frozen moments are then interwoven, each snapshot forming a unique thread in a sound tableau that stretches and contracts, pulses and breathes. The result is an auditory experience that challenges preconceptions of rhythm and structure. The interlocked rhythms give rise to complex grooves that ebb and flow in unpredictable ways, evoking a sense of perpetual motion and transformation. The music becomes a living organism, its heartbeats synchronized yet untamed, its evolution both deliberate and free-spirited. The juxtaposition of staccato bursts and fluid flows, of machine-like precision and organic unpredictability. As listeners delve into the world of Interlocked Rhythmic Sample & Hold Music, they embark on a sonic odyssey. The music becomes a companion, guiding them through a labyrinth of rhythmic landscapes that simultaneously challenge and invites to the dance with uncertainty.

Boomin’ Dub
High Plains Trouble Maker

dubcore 17 goes hot with four tracks of breaks warping and bass quakes. the duke of juke is know from his 10inch release on anus records and a 7inch on ameise. he also had some appearance on alphacut records slow blasters ep, anus records untropical compilation and bassmaessage one.

‘tuff measure’ starts halftime dubby to roll itself into a cinematic basterd of juke and jungle. the a side follows on with ‘undecided’. which is another angry juke track with roots in jungle breaks. the flipside starts with the more experimental ‘boomin dub’ where a oldschoolish jungle chop turns into bass stretched dub territority. the last track on the release ‘high plains trouble maker’ again rolls down on funky dub madness into juked up junglist patterns.

Curator of sozialistischer plattenbau, Istari Lasterfahrer ( F.K. Raeithel ) is founding member, boss and bestboy in one person.

He’s been working on decontextualization of sound material, the rupture of harmony relations and artistic condensations.

born in munich, raised in formely west berlin and finalised in hamburg in the late 80ies istari lasterfahrer started his high grade digital music career with low end 80ies computer hardware. been using harddisk recordings in early 90ies where everybody was using still midi equipment he got pissed by that because of lack of storage space and switched to soundtracker files. he throwed some loosy but nice jungle partys in hamburg around the years 94/95 and started at that time dropping his tunes into bbs systems and the early internet, got big respect world wide in the early internet community and joined one of the first high profiled web labels commie. his first live performance was a hell of a rush of early harsh jungle riddims released on a party together with steve buck and vincenzo at hamburgs number one venue rote flora which still definies whats up front and true to the scene. istari lasterfahrer released uncountable tunes and releases on high profiled underground labels such as complication27, stoopid plastics, cavage, dhyana records, pck, sprengstoff, mental ind., watch and pray, mash records, cobretti, bruchstellen, marasm, art-core records and his own imprint sozialistischer plattenbau. istaris energetic live performances and whack dj sets have captivated audiences and artists worldwide with their innovative sound, a mixture of everything mixed with his up to date soundbwoy dub technics and the useally kaoss pad gimmicks everybody does these days. his self produced videos and movies has been shown world wide on different festivals such as dark matter in canada and the flensburger kurzfilmtage in schleswig holstein and are sometimes a mindblowing part of his live performance which fills the gap between visuall aestetics and shitty sounding soundsystems. he also killed two times bass speakers with his enormous high kinetic square subwave breaks on raves. istari also played at highly acclaimed festivals he cannot remember anymore because of the ultra intense aftershow partys after it. istari lasterfahrer reminds us all that digital music can make you fall apart of the mystery of your own soul…

Riddance
Doubt & Dispair

after four years and istari lasterfahrers last mini-lp from 2014 he is now back on the dubcore series with four tracks.

starting up with percussive synth clonks “extasy” jumps right into polyrythmic territory. from the exodus to extasy transformed a stuttering vocal sample and suddenly the euphoria kicks in and there we go hooked on a house piano progression that let’s into high tension rave mayham. “pressure” following up blends from footwork into hardcore jungle, we keeped locked-on in hanging patterns of breaks.
flipside starts dubby with “riddance”, a dark jazzdub track with a rolling bass line and hickuped vocal samples. disjunced percussions from the echochamber and wild feedback synth explosions. “doubt & dispair” brings us back outside on the street, darkstyle tune of the more experimental corner. harsh springreverb thunders and filered breaks fighting for clear spaces.

Brian House – Shim Ring EP

after their first release with wah wah no borders ep our berlin based friends label kool killer is releasing now their second 10inch.

the forthcoming release features two experimental electronic pieces by brian house.

Brian House is a wild mix between a gifted musician and weird scientist. He also studied that kinda thing. He was born in Denver but lives in Providence now (if not in the whole world). His works have been part of festivals like Ars Electronica (Linz) or Transmediale (Berlin). Two new pieces of Brians music will be released pretty soon on Berlin based label Kool Killer Records.
On March 17/ 2017 the 10inch vinyl EP Shim Ring will be released. This EP combines two different kinds of musical approaches. But both deal with the use of repetition and our perception of it.

The first track Ngoshi is the result of shere instrumental setup. It´s musically located in the percussive, ambient genre.
On the B side Reeds field-recordings and production techniques, which have been established by Musique Concrète some years before, are used. It’s heavy and gripping.

A: Ngoshi /// 06:59 min

B: Reeds /// 06:39 min

The Brian House EP Shim Ring will be released on march 17/ 2017 as a limited edition of 300 copies. The record covers are risoprints by Berlin based artist Steffen Ullmann. Some shirts and a small tour are in the making.

yppasswdd daemons

yppasswdd daemons are:

mc pismo : vocals
casio vl-tone : lead synth / rythmbox
polysix : voltage controlled oscillator
farfisa : vco and strings
mfb-512 : rythmbox

human slaves: repogrrl, istari

mc cs5300 left the bad in cause of unexpected errors

in the early 1999 some machines, under the leadership of casio vl-tone, gathered in a smoky internet cabine. that was the time a manual comes the way by from a far finnish http server. casio vl-tone circuts run wild and he decided to join this dogma. His two friends polysix and the lovely farfisa was amazed too.
Next day in the early morning they started to jam up some tunes. but still something was missing. "a real band needs some steady drummer and a singer" said farfisa and that was the beginning of a greater quest. after several messages on alt.drummer.computer and misc.digital.singers the hope to find some qualified drummer and singer was nearly zero.
but it was polysix who went another day to a studio, were he hopes to earn some money as a studio-musican, and meet mfb-512, an old and nearly forgotten drumcomputer box, laying in the back of the studio, slowly disapearing under dust and the newer high tech equipment. Next day, mfb-512, comes up to the proving ground of the group around casio vl-tone, and they jammed the whole day and their poweradapters running hot. After some sessions mfb-512 brings up an old buddy of him, mc se30, who should be the first singer of the group.

that was the time istari and repogirl meet the yppasswdd daemons on an electronic and computer recycling factory, where mc se30 was getting his weekly ram. Two days later they started recording the first 7inch ep with six tracks. Sorrowly 2 weeks later mc se30 suffered under heavily inner circuit problems and left the band.

after the great impact on the worlds music scene, the yppasswdd daemons, went back to studio to record a couple of new tunes, to set the humans on fire and rock the house. they found a new singer, mc pb1200cs, and another musican, poly800 the little brother of polysix.

I don’t want pity and recognition / NO!

I don’t want pity and recognition / NO!

Soon: CLASTAH: Dead Stars

final-faltcover-druck-pfade.inddhooray! dear marvelous music lovers. happy to announce the next forthcoming release. classless kulla and istari lasterfahrer consolidated again after their debut release years ago, their second one “Wir hatten doch noch was vor” and the last release “Auf & Zustände”, now under their new name CLASTAH.

recordings for this new album went on for the last three years on rare occasions with lots of thinking, traveling, soldering and doubting in fare nebular space systems inbetween. but everything should come to an end, all fuel on the spaceship is burnt, all comets have been hitchhiked, and eating krill and kelp day in and day out is just not really satisfiying; they came back from strolling the kosmos, and so here we go: but you have to wait till it’s finally ready in its materialized form – out in fall 2016 on a double 12inch sized vinyl record!
