Early in his career, he added guitar effects and bass synths to his live sets to push his vocal art to a new level. Mark Boombastik is mostly known for his astonishing crossover pop-song “Putzen” which was licensed for german TV shows among other crazy things. Through this novelty hit he caught the attention of the Berlin record label Shitkatapult for which he produced the long-player “Adios Berlin” together with Eduardo Delgado-Lopez. Lesser known but extremely sought after are his releases on Meeuw Muzak and Gagarin Records. With Gagarin Records chairman Felix Kubin he did countless live and studio collaborations.

Mainly operating under his “DJ-Y” moniker (as part of the notorious ZMK Soundsystem) he also took his first steps as a producer, which resulted in his debut vinyl release in 2000 on the Obnoxious label of friend and fellow DJ/producer OBX. By the late 00′s his focus had shifted more towards downtempo styles like hip hop and skweee, releasing a number of records and cassettes on such labels as Harmönia, Fremdtunes and his own Myor imprint.
The last couple of years have seen him go full circle, playing and producing mainly jungle and breakbeat hardcore, running two sublabels specialized in said styles (Myor Massiv and Diamond Life), collaborating with the likes of Dead Man’s Chest, Tim Reaper and fellow Dutch junglist FFF and dropping a slew of EP’s and 12”s on various UK based labels including 7th Storey Projects, Fresh 86, Western Lore and Hypercharger.

Prince Istari – Riddim Dub School 7th Grade will be released on 26 of september 2025!

The subtitle for this PRINCE ISTARI release is top ranking stepper science class. But not only steppers are on this six tracker. here we step into the 8th grade of junior high school with two cuts of the EWIL-MERODUB, one acid stepper and one strip down drum and bass version. Ewil-Merodach son of Nebukadnezar is also known as Amēl-Marduk (Second Book of Kings 25,27). The last tune on the A-side is DIKE DISCO STYLE DUB with some synth keys into niceness land. Flipside TROUBLE NO SET LIKE RAIN brings you a deep rockers riddim with some melancholic horns section. this one is a heavy load tune! STEP INTO CALABI-YAU follows up and is a particular type of manifold gently stepperdub which has certain properties, such as Ricci flatness tom tom echos, yielding electro piano applications in theoretical physics. Last tune is the tricky ones here in terms of the drum beats (it’s based upon the Peanuts Vendor Riddim Beat for those of you who want to know) and is called BODERATION TIMES DUB and features PRINCE ISTARI on his 6 string bass guitar solo. Its more of a serious dubinstrumental then a dub tune.

With the 7th Grade of the Riddim Dub School series, Prince Istari enters Junior High School. Prince Istari returns with his Riddim Dub School series now on 12inch, pushing deeper into the intersection of dub, drum and bass, and sound system culture. This 6-track EP, titled “lessons into drum and bass wise”, explores raw rhythms, analog feedbacks, and heavy low-end pressure.

The EP starts with a Drum and Bass cut with a One Drop of the DUB ME LOOPY tune from Riddim Dub School 5th Grade. INTIMACY COORDINATOR follows with a heavy Disco Dub. The last track on Side A is LABOUR’S DUB, with deep bass polished through spring reverb. The shakers come in late and push the whole thing forward. Side B begins with GONE TOO SOON from Riddim Dub School 4th Grade, in an alternative version. It’s followed by the most upfront track on the release CONQUERING DUB – brass fanfares and a deep disco rocker beat with minimalistic arrangement. NO DUB INNA DI WRONG ends the 7th Grade with a roots way style. It suggests that dub music doesn’t belong to or support negative, corrupt, or unjust actions or spaces. Dub music stays righteous, true, or positive, and doesn’t associate with bad vibes or wrongdoing.

Gay Dubbing (Joyfull As You Want To Be)

Prince Istari. The basic of this tune goes way back to 1995 where the young Prince Istari had some friends over at his and recording some live dubs on a house party. Flipside we find our way into joyfull dreamscape disco dub with psychadelic guitar and flute solo played by Prince Istari. This one is kind of a special tune. I hope you enjoy!

Lost You In A Club (Found You In A Dub)

Prince Istari in the 4th Grade of the Riddim Dub School brings a one drop tune on the first side called ‚Gone Too Soon‘. Prince Istari plays here the opening acustic guitar solo. then the tunes flaps into heavy spring reverbation in a drum and bass style just to swing back into a melodic part with some uplifting melancholic mallets solo. On the flipside ‚Lost You In A Club‘ a melodica solo and lover rock influenced disco dub tune will pick you up into gentle rub-a-dub. heavy ibanez hd-1000 harmonizer dubbing on this one!
