another message from handbag/abbasbreakcore-past. a 45 with tracks which were produced quick, unwary and many years ago. two washed-out raggapellas blended with two not so over-used “instrumentals”: henry mancinis “baby elephant walk” gives sense to elephant mans “haters want war” and the infamous “mah na mah na” starts a tune which gives the listener a bouquet of reasons for being a bad guy. even the cover-artwork and the liner-notes by art-historian john berger take up the cudgels for hanging loose with physical narcolepsis caused by all kinds of badman-isms. good that the wimpy stone roses wave this attitude goodbye and we can go back to business as usual after the slowed up record stopped playing! the beginning is the end: first blood is.

Schon gar nicht, wenn es um die Breakcore-Szene geht und deren Art, sich im Umgang mit homophoben (u.a.) Raggalyricsamples zu verrenken. Hier wird der Knoten einfach durchgehauen. Halali-Mancini und Muppet-Moroder pflanzen gehörig Kakao in den Dschungel, und dann heißt es durchziehen für die Rambos mit den Ganja-Gurten, aber anders…! Bonus-Hilfestellung gibt das Artwork mit einem Schwenk zum Kunsthistoriker John Berger, das die Sublimiererschwadrone mit den Füßen voran auf den Boden stellt. Nicht dass wir uns missverstehen: Diese wichtige 7″ funktioniert grade deshalb, weil sie sich ins entsprechende Set nahtlos einfügt, in der Tat findet sie die perfekte Balance: Geh ab – aber steig mir nicht auf den Fuß dabei! handba/abba is also known as acidboychairand he released a longplayer on the infamous munich erkrankung durch musique-label in 2005. inbetween the last months he stormed the
russian dance charts with his “let it be house” -7inch.

as handbag/abba he released a split 12inch with istari lasterfahrer and a split 7inch withdev 79 in the dubcore series on spb. he’s working on a longplayer under this alias.

the record contains a locked moondog-groove for all loop fetischists.

“In diesem doppelten und tiefschwarzen Espresso ist alles drin, was man morgens braucht: Amen, Polka, Sägezahngabba, Rotterdamhooks, und im richtigen Moment: Floorbeben. Überhaupt geht die Single sehr schön nach vorne und hält das Chaos am Zügel. “Can’t Stop” auf der A-Seite erlaubt sich erst gegen Ende, kurz etwas auszufransen, damit die B-Seite (“Don’t Cry”) umso besser nochmal Gas geben kann, bevor sie uns mit einem Rätsel, wo man diese Marimbas schon mal gehört hat, die hier nonchalant in einen Loop hupfen, in den Tag entlässt. Wer die Rave-Seite der Society Suckers liebt, kommt an dieser Handbag/abba nicht vorbei. Und ich freu mich auf das Album im Herbst.”

dubcore volume three is another two track 7inch this time with a bit far out ragga cutups. one one side we have handbag/abba mashing up two ragga accapellas with a sort of deathmetal drums, gabba bass kicks and lots of noizy breaks. handbag/abba is one personality behind the mysterious acidboychair music group from hamburg germany. now one knows for shure but we know he also does djing as dj dc schuhe and does some acid stuff under the name acidboychair gold sounds and then seen doing kind of tek-hip-house as bassline baldwin. the other side we have dev79 from Philadelphia. dev79 is into many scenes sounds too. hiphop, dub, breakcore, illbient and idm. on this plate he offers a midtempo breakcore ragga mashup.
