How is dat? Rub-A-Dub on that Holy Nights?
Since the last two years Prince Istari worked heavy on this release. Maybe you remember the Lebkuchen Dubs from last years holidays. Now first time on supper limited vinyl press. You get the orgininal lebkuchen dubs with one extended cut. But there are three more heavyweight rub-a-dub tunes for your holynight skanking.
This album transforms traditional German and Austrian Christmas songs, in all their redundantly soporific form, into a heavily exaggerated alien dub territory. The line between the bearable and the destructive runs dangerously close here — though it remains quite danceable. This one is for the strong-hearted. Friends of psychedelic dub or ambient afternoon naps might want to steer clear of this product.
With a jug of Glühwein and the snow falling outside (or rain), the band LIVITY BETHLEM SNOWFLAKE ROCKERS sets the mood. Meanwhile, PRINCE ISTARI shall take his place before the organ, and play warm melodies unto thee in this cold and wintry world. Yet shall he remain steadfast at the controls, increasing the Irie for all ye snowflakes who dwell upon the earth. And behold, the First Holy Night shall be mighty indeed. For all shall be eager to rock the house, and the rejoicing may well become somewhat excessive.
First shall come “Sweeter the Dubs,” gently leading thee into the sacred zone. Then cometh “Silent Dub,” whereupon it may become apparent that the PRINCE hath partaken of one cup of Glühwein too many. Thereafter shall sound “Scho Glei Dumpa Dub,” and this shall be the tune that causeth all within the dance to rise up and jump with great rejoicing, before returning unto their sofas and collapsing therein. And when the Holy Night draweth toward its end, there shall arise “Dawtah Of Zion Dub,” a tune of great fellowship, wherein all may lift up their voices and sing along, until at last they gently drift away into the blessed state of winter hibernation. Thus endeth the First Holy Night.
On the morrow, being the First Holy Day, we shall turn unto Side B. And even as Mary went forth through the thorny bush, so is it now ordained that we shall partake of the remnants of Holy Eve, and suffer the mighty hangover thereof. And for this purpose shall the lively “Dub Amid the Thorns” be laid upon the turntable. And when all things have been made ready and every remnant hath been consumed, the evening shall proceed into heavy rotation with the mighty Acid Dub Banger featuring RANKING TRUDY “Oh How Joyful Dub.” And thus shall the music continue until the very last of the guests have departed unto their soft feather beds.
And on the Second Holy Day, we shall abide in a continual loop of the peaceful “Silent Trickle Dub,” dwelling in humbelness and jubilant. Then shall we go forth into the winter, and all the snowflakes shall rejoice together at the sound of the final tune, “Flöckchencore.” For it shall be short, yet most solemn.
